Robert Lynn Ptacek, 69 years old, peacefully returned to his heavenly Father on November 5, 2019, at his home in Austin, Texas with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bobby was born in  Baytown, Texas, on December 25, 1949 to the late Robert (Bob) and Norma Ptacek. He grew up in Baytown and was a member of the first graduating class of Ross S. Sterling High School in 1968. In those days Bobby built many “fast and furious” cars and can still be remembered for his orange 32 Ford coupe.

Bobby attended Stephen F. Austin State University studying Art. His talent was surpassed by none other and he was a truly gifted artist.

After college, Bobby traveled the world working as a commercial diver. It was in his underwater welding career where he always said he used his artistic ability in his craft.

In 1987 he became the father to his pride and joy, Peyton Lynn Ptacek and spent many years having the privilege of being Mr. Mom. Bobby always had a story to tell and a way to make you laugh. To say he was one of a kind was an understatement.

Bobby is survived by his daughter, Peyton Ptacek, wife, Karen, sister, Sheryl Shepherd (Pat), niece and nephew, Kayla and Colson Shepherd, several cousins, and a host of great friends whom he loved dearly.

His desire was to donate his body to medical research. We joked that he found a way to be an Aggie with us as he donated his body to Texas A&M University’s Health Science Center of Neuroscience & Experimental Therapeutics.

We will celebrate his life with a memorial gathering of his beloved family and friends at a later date.
