A woman stabbed another woman Sunday in the 1700 block of Utah. Police said they arrived at the home around 2:05 a.m. on a possible stabbing call. They encountered a woman who told them she was home when another woman showed up for an unknown reason. Police said the two women apparently have ill feelings toward each other. A verbal altercation then ensued, which quickly turned physical. According to police, one pulled a knife and stabbed the other woman in the shoulder and then cut her on the arm before she fled the scene. The stabbed woman was transported to Hermann Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and subsequently filed on 27-year-old Vera Crawley of Baytown. Crawley was arrested Monday and is currently in custody.
Homeless man found dead
A 57-year-old man, who police say was homeless, was found dead Sunday in the 1200 block of Decker Drive.
Police acting on a welfare concern call received word of a man sleeping behind a business at 12:27 p.m. Sunday. Police found the man lying on the ground, and he appeared to be asleep. When officers approached him, it became apparent that he was dead. Officers knew of the man and identified him as Elvin Graham of Baytown.
Lt. Steve Dorris, Baytown police spokesman, said there were no immediate signs of foul play. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
• Several heavy-duty batteries worth $4,000 were stolen Friday from a business in the 4400 block of Craigmont Boulevard.
• A man reported to police that $200 worth of jewelry was stolen from his home in the 300 block of Live Oak in March.
An apartment in the 2500 block of East James Avenue was burglarized. A firearm worth $190 and $800 worth of clothes were stolen.
A home was burglarized Saturday in the 7400 block of Eastpoint Boulevard. A total of $400 in items was stolen.
A gray 2013 Hyundai Accent was stolen Saturday from a home in the 400 block of East Republic Avenue. The vehicle is worth $18,000.
A 52-year-old man told police that his silver 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 was stolen Sunday from his home in the 4600 block of Village Lane.
Police arrested a woman Friday in the 4600 block of Garth Road for possessing 4 grams amphetamines/methamphetamines. A man was arrested along with her for traffic offenses.
