A 26-year-old Baytown man was charged with DWI and failure to stop and render aid after reportedly leaving the scene of a traffic accident about 8 p.m. Sunday.

Baytown police spokesman Lt. Steve Dorris said that Alberto Ibanez-Castillo ran a red light at the intersection of Ward Road and North Alexander Drive and hit a Toyota passenger car driven by a 63-year-old Baytown woman.

Witnesses who stopped told officers that Ibanez-Castillo then fled. They provided a description that allowed police to find him a short distance away.

The woman in the Toyota was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to her head, hand and leg, Dorris said. Investigating officers determined that Ibanez-Castillo was intoxicated, and the District Attorney’s Office accepted charges against him.
