United Way of Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County kicks off its 2016-17 annual campaign with a tailgate lunch Friday at the Baytown Community Center, 2407 Market St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During the kickoff, the Campaign Cabinet Chair Missy Malechek will announce the campaign goal. Attendees will also hear inspiring stories from United Way supported agencies and watch the 2016 campaign video.

The kickoff event marks the start of United Way’s annual fundraising effort and gives the organization an opportunity to thank local companies, donors and volunteers for their commitment to the community. United Way’s Annual Campaign is a vital part of the organization’s work because 100 percent of every dollar given to the campaign goes to support local programs. The 2015-16 campaign raised over 3.2 million, exceeding the goal of 3 million for the year.

“Each year, the community comes forward to invest in our local United Way which allows us to make a difference in the lives of so many,” said Suzanne Zutter, executive director of United Way of Greater Baytown Area. “As we kick off our Annual Campaign we look forward to the giving everyone the opportunity to help others with the confidence that dollars contributed are well spent right here in our community.”

This event is free, open to the public, and includes lunch. To RSVP, or for more information, visit www.unitedwaygbacc.org or call 281-424-5922.
