After an intense manhunt Wednesday night and Thursday, the Precinct 3 Constable’s Office arrested a wanted fugitive in Meadowlake Village, north of Interstate 10 just outside the Baytown city limits.
Joseph Wayne Gilliland, 33, was wanted for an aggravated sexual assault charge from Houston and a parole violation, according to Precinct 3 Major Isaac Villarreal.
Villarreal said the office targets parole violators who live in the unincorporated area of Precinct 3. Last week they began looking for Gilliland.
Officers located Gilliland Wednesday night. “Unfortunately,” Villarreal said, “he bailed out of his vehicle, ran into a house, exited the house, and we were back out there today until we were able to locate him. Once we located him, he again fled but was subsequently arrested at another location.”
Villarreal said Gilliland lives on Seminole Street, but was arrested a few blocks away in the 7500 block of Broken Arrow Street about 1:30 p.m. at a vacant house owned by a relative.
Precinct 3 was assisted in the search by the Baytown Police Department, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Precinct 8 Constable’s Office.
Villarreal said that Precinct 3 started a program to find and arrest parole violators about seven months ago, and with this arrest has jailed more than 100.
