Flames engulfed a large two-story home on Majestic Drive of FM 3180 in the Cove/Beach City area late Saturday night.

Chambers County Public Information Officer Ryan Holzaepfel said the Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the fire, which appears to have originated in the living room.

Cove Volunteer Fire Department was the lead fire suppression department, Holzaepfel said.

Due to the size of the fire and its proximity to other nearby homes, a number of other fire departments responded as well.

A post on the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page indicates that responding fire departments included Anahuac, Baytown, Beach City, Crosby, Dayton, Hankamer, Highlands, Mont Belvieu, Old River, Wallisville and West Lake.

Trinity Bay EMS also responded, but there were no injuries.

Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said the fire departments were successful in preventing damage to houses beside and behind the one that burned.
