Los Amigos Foundation will host its annual bowling tournament on Sept. 17 at Max Bowl, 720 Ward Road.

The organization, founded in 2009 by Randy and Tracey Garcia, is dedicated to bettering the community through providing assistance for higher education.

The event is being held to raise funds for campus improvements at the Chinquapin Preparatory School in Highlands. The school is a nonprofit private college-preparatory school which serves low-income youth, particularly minorities, from the greater Houston area.

Los Amigos Foundation chose Chinquapin because of its dedication to helping underprivileged kids and the success rate with their students.

The fundraiser will also feature a silent auction, door prizes, trophies and more.

Registration will begin at 5 p.m. and bowling will start at 6. Teams will consist of 6 people and cost $150. It is $100 to be a lane sponsor.

“We want to sell out and fill up all 32 lanes,” said Herrera.
