Cera and Henry Bernshausen will be among those performing in the Concert of Thanksgiving Sunday.

1 Take in some glorious music this weekend and help a good cause in the process. The Love Network of Baytown, Hearts and Hands of Baytown is teaming up with Iglesia Cristo Viene for its first Concert of Thanksgiving. The concert will be at 6 p.m., Sunday at Iglesia Cristo Viene located at 400 Cedar Bayou Rd. Admission is free but love offerings will be accepted to spread some love around. Among the local talent performing will be will be Henry Bernshausen, an elder at Alliance Bible Church and Cera, a freshman at Sterling.  Donations of new and gently used coats will be accepted along with non-perishable food items.


2 Take in the majesty of gourd art this weekend during a show at the Art League of Baytown. Artists Roy and Blanche Cavarretta will display their work from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Art Center located at 110 W. Texas Ave. They will also demonstrate some of the techniques used to produce the art. Sounds like a prime opportunity to expand one’s horizons. 


3 It will be time to turn down the lights and throw down some tunes at the Golden Groove Senior Dance from 7 to 10 this evening. The dance is free and open to those aged 50 and up. Participants are also invited to bring a dish or just enjoy the music of Rob Austin. The dance will be at the Baytown Community Center located at 2407 Market Street.


4 Get in touch with yourself mentally and physically with a session of chair yoga. The Baytown Parks and Recreation Department hosts free classes from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday and Tuesday each week. The unique twist on yoga with a chair allows everyone to reap the rewards of yoga’s many health benefits. The class is at the Baytown Community Center. 


5 See some of the biggest names in music Sunday in a concert benefiting VetsAid. Joe Walsh’s headliner event will be in Houston this year with a star-studded lineup. Those scheduled to perform are Walsh, ZZ Top, Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow, The Doobie Brothers and Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit. Tickets start at $25 for the event at the Toyota Center located at 1510 Polk Street.
