A contract worker who was injured at ExxonMobil Tuesday died from his injuries, according to a statement from ExxonMobil Wednesday.

“We regret that a contractor was fatally injured in an incident that occurred at the ExxonMobil Baytown Complex on Feb. 11, 2020,” the statement said.

“The person involved was immediately attended to by emergency responders. We are greatly saddened by this and express our deepest sympathy to his family and co-workers,” the statement concluded.

Baytown EMS was called to the ExxonMobil North Gate about 9 a.m. Tuesday with a report of a person with a head injury from a fall. Emergency medical personnel requested Life Flight, but it was unable to respond due to weather conditions.

The injured man was taken to a Houston hospital by ambulance.

ExxonMobil spokeswoman Connie Tilton said Tuesday that the company would conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
