An assistant band director at Ross S. Sterling High School has resigned over assertions of an inappropriate relationship with an unidentified student.

In a statement from Goose Creek CISD, Margaret Denton resigned from Goose Creek CISD Oct. 16, “following an administrative investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct with a former student.”

The statement, sent by Susan Passmore, Goose Creek CISD spokeswoman, also said the matter had been turned over to law enforcement as well as the State Board for Educator Certification.

Passmore said Denton was hired before the 2018-2019 school year.

Passmore added at this time, the district is unable to say if the former student is a male or female.
