A 24-year-old Baytown man is in Harris County jail after being charged with intoxication manslaughter in the death Sept. 26 of Jacquelyn Pleytez at the intersection of Interstate 45 and Cypresswood Drive in Spring.
The manslaughter charge was filed Tuesday, according to the criminal complaint filed with the 180th District Court in Houston. He had previously faced an aggravated assault charge in relation to the crash. Lab tests conducted after the crash confirmed the presence of THC, which is a psychoactive chemical found in marijuana and some other synthetic intoxicants.
The complaint states that the man, identified as Jahson Trevone Albert, with an address in the 7500 block of Decker Drive, was driving recklessly and at high speed through the school zone at Spring High School about 4:30 p.m.
His car left the roadway, the complaint alleges and went airborne before returning to the road and hitting several cars, including that driven by Pleytez.
The victim was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she died several days later.
