County judge to headline Promise Center awards dinner

Our Promise for West Baytown will host the fifth annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 3 at IMPACT Early College High School, 1415 Market St, in Baytown. 

The event, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., will feature Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo as the keynote speaker.  

Baytown Councilwoman Laura Alvarado will serve as this year’s Honorary Chair. Previous keynote speakers have included Harris County Judge Ed Emmett; Senator Sylvia Garcia; Ret. Major General Rick Noriega (CEO-Ronald McDonald House); and Georgina Cecilia Pérez (State Board of Education). 

The event will kick off with a silent auction to benefit the Promise Center. Items will be collected through Sept. 27. 

The dinner will not only will bring awareness and support to the Center’s goal of providing services and resources for the West Baytown Community, but also recognize organizations and leaders throughout the Baytown area who have given back to the community.  

“I am honored to host this event as a way to recognize individuals and organizations that have performed an extraordinary act of service leaving an indelible mark on the Baytown community,” Fred Aguilar, board president said.

The Promise Center will provide community service awards along with a youth component that will include a number of scholarships.

Our Promise for West Baytown seeks to be the neighborhood center where the services and programs needed by the community are provided, and where youth build relationships with a broader circle of caring adults who value education.
