Benny May, center, is joined by Dr. Tanseem Abouelseoud, left; Dana Essary, 2 North manager, second from right; Dr. Houssam Oueini, far right, and members of his care team at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. May survived a case of COVID-19. “My body felt like it was in a vice, but the doctors and nurses I had were fantastic. They continued to breathe life into me the whole time I was there,” May said.

When the doctor at the free-standing emergency facility asked Benny May where he wanted to be transported to receive treatment for double pneumonia, the Mont Belvieu resident’s answer came quickly: Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital.

After being confined to bed for over a week, May, 55, knew he was pretty sick, but after being transported to Houston Methodist Baytown on that early June night with fever, body aches and difficulty breathing, he tested positive to join the ranks of COVID-19 patients in the Greater Houston area.
