An inmate attacked a Chambers County jail supervisor Sunday night, according to Sheriff Brian Hawthorne. The supervisor required stitches before being released from the hospital.

Hawthorne said that 33-year-old Edward Allen Forrest, of Beach City, caused a disturbance in a holdover cell. Davis and two other jail staff tried to subdue him, and Forrest struck Davis in the head.

The two other jailers, Cameron Strange and William White, along DPS Trooper Hunter Holloway, subdued the violent inmate. Hawthorne said Forrest was in jail after having been arrested for criminal trespass and criminal mischief earlier in the evening. He is facing an additional charge of aggravated assault against a public servant, Hawthorne said.
