A man identified as 25-year-old Todd Hunt of Baytown was charged with Assault of a Pregnant Person after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend at the Motel 19 in the 3400 block of North Alexander Drive Monday.
Baytown police spokesman Lt. Steve Dorris said officers were called shortly before 2 p.m. Monday. They learned that Hunt had been in an argument with his girlfriend in a motel room.
When she tried to leave, Dorris said, Hunt grabbed her around the neck and choked her.
She yelled for help, at which time he released her and began walking away from the motel. Police located him walking in the 3500 block of McKinney.
Dorris said that witnesses and security video supported the woman’s account of the assault.
A man reported to police Monday that he was billed for payment for purchasing an iPhone 11 from Best Buy with a Verizon cellular account. However, he said he had not purchased an iPhone and had never used Verizon.
He believes someone used his identity to set up the accounts and purchase the phone. Police are investigating.
