Baytown City Council

With all votes counted, Laura Alvarado narrowly defeated Mercedes Renteria in District 1, the only contested Baytown Council seat. Alvarado received 213 votes to Renteria's 205.

Texas Constitutional Amendments

Nine of the 10 amendments to the Texas Constitution on Tuesday's ballot appeared headed for solid victory as of midnight. The first on the ballot, a proposition to allow persons to hold the office of municipal judge in more than one city, was failing by about a 2:1 margin.

All but two Texas counties had reported by midnight. However, since one of those was Harris, the state's most populous county, results could yet change.

Beach City sales tax proposition

With all precincts reporting, Proposition A on the Beach City ballot appears to have passed narrowly, with 236 voting in favor of a city sales tax and 217 voting against.
