The Baytown Parks and Recreation Department will host the first Treats on the Trail event in Jenkins Park on Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 10 pm.
Thirteen businesses and organizations will line the Cary Bayou Trail to distribute candy to trick or treaters.
Tara Barton, marketing and special events coordinator with Baytown Parks and Recreation, says the event offers Baytown families the perfect place to safely celebrate Halloween.
“Treats on the Trail was designed to be a family-friendly event for all members of the community to come out and trick or treat in a safe environment,” Barton said. “The event is free for everyone, and we hope to see trick or treaters of all ages in the park to enjoy a night out on the Cary Bayou Trail.”
In addition to trick or treating, event attendees can also enjoy taking photos in a pumpkin patch provided in part by H-E-B of Baytown. Guests are also encouraged to bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and settle in on the open space behind the Jenkins Park soccer pitch for a free showing of Disney’s Coco.
Guests can purchase a variety of snacks during the movie from food trucks.
Free parking for the event is available at Stephen F. Austin Elementary, located at 3022 Massey-Tompkins Road. From there, guests can catch a free shuttle to the event. Limited parking is also available onsite for $10.
“We’re really encouraging all guests to take advantage of the free parking at Stephen F. Austin Elementary,” Barton said. “The free parking is a quick, 5-minute shuttle ride away from the event, and the shuttle will drop guests off at the beginning of the trail. It really is the best option for anyone planning to attend the event.”
