Cody Cunningham, a 2003 graduate of Buna High School and 2009 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, is the district’s new band director.
Cunningham previously served as the band director for Hull-Daisetta ISD for 10 years. While at Hull-Daisetta ISD, Cunningham amassed numerous first division and “Best in Class” ratings, had state qualifying participants, and rebuilt a band program that is now recognized.
“Anahuac has a long-standing tradition of success, both on and off the field, and I am beyond excited to be apart of this highly successful band program,” Cunningham said. “I know what the expectations are of the district and community, and it is my goal to show that the pride of Anahuac can still compete with the best of them.”
Anahuac ISD Superintendent Dennis Wagner said Cunningham is a welcome sight.
“We are very excited that Mr. Cunningham is joining the Anahuac family,” Wagner said. “Our band program is one of our most successful programs in the district and we look forward to continued success. We are very confident that Mr. Cunningham will continue to grow our program and give our students a great educational experience.”
Cunningham is replacing Marcus Goodlow, who left to take a job at Cedar Bayou Junior School.
