The Black Women’s Awareness Club of Baytown is sponsoring its 34th Debutante Cotillion Feb. 28 beginning at 7 p.m. at Shawn Shafaii in Houston. The club was established in 1979 by a group of concerned women who wanted to contribute to society. The main objective of the club is to render service to the community and other surrounding areas. Some of the activities in which the debutantes and the club participate are visiting nursing homes, talent shows, church visits, assisting the elderly and the handicapped and cultural research.

The club also contributes to Goodfellows every year and helps those who are in need on a general basis. This year the debutantes helped with the Goodfellows Christmas Toy Drive. For more information, contact Rose Haywood at 281-427-2657 or Elsie Eames at 281-424-2033.
