The eighth annual “Deck the Halls” Christmas Tour of Homes is Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Pilot Club of Baytown and homeowners are excited to showcase homes on the tour. Four families have opened their Baytown and Mont Belvieu homes decorated for the holiday season in support of the Pilot Club’s efforts to fund service projects in our community.
• Dr. Dean and Gena Hutto, 412 S. Burnett Drive, Baytown
The Hutto home is built on original hunting land for David G. Burnet, the first President of the Republic of Texas. There is a gravesite on the property that the State of Texas owns the land where Burnet’s mother is supposedly buried.
The Huttos purchased the lot in 1994 and began building in 1996 and moved in September 1996. The Huttos built the house themselves with the help of Dean’s father, Emmett Hutto.
Gena inherited a love for antiques from her mother, Harriett Hensler Bell, as evidenced from the many antique pieces in the home. Gena’s aunt, Debbie Fitzgerald, was very helpful with the decorating.
The Huttos love living on Burnet Bay. They get the most beautiful sunsets and have the pleasure of boating right from the backyard.
• Shane and Kathi Clausen, 2 Del Oro Court, Tierra Del Oro, Baytown
Beautifully decorated, as you enter the Clausens home you are welcomed by their tree full of years of collectibles. Enjoy the elegance of the dining room set for entertaining with fresh greenery and Christmas china.
The Clausens have lived in their home for 18 years. Nativity scenes that were collected piece by piece, year after year, from St. Mark’s church reminds you of the passing of time. Kathi assists many homeowners to decorate their homes for Christmas.
• Wes and Kathy Winn, 414 S. Burnett Drive, Baytown
The Winns recently completed building and moved into their custom built home.
Beautiful Christmas decorations are throughout this beautiful home. The Home features French cut wide plank oak floors, with marble and limestone floors in the foyer and bathrooms.
Outside front entry features antique gas lantern and scroll bracket and matching gas lanterns on the garage. There is a beautiful Vaughan chandelier with alabaster bowl. The two vestibules off the foyer each have a frutal on cedar Verona chest and antique Dutch mirror.
In the living room stands a Baldwin baby grand piano belonged to Kathy’s grandmother, Lula Wilburn.
Upstairs Game Room has beautiful wild animal game on the walls all killed in Africa by homeowner, as well as animal fur rugs also killed by homeowner. Wet bar counter top is mahogany with a marine waterproof finish.
Back patio/Outdoor kitchen features Pennsylvania blue stone flooring and pads by pool. Antique Sphinx statues are placed on edge of pool. Pool was built by Brad Stephens of Backyard Amenities.
• Glenn & Stefanie Lemelle, 4418 Sunrise Road, Mont Belvieu
The Lemelles built their beautiful home five years ago. “This home is very whimsical and has a lot of unique features” is an understatement. Stefanie loves Christmas and has beautiful “different” Christmas decoration and trees in every room. She is being assisted with decorating her home by Heritage Interiors.
The Lemelles say: “Our home is so unique and we are honored to open our home to the Pilot Club of Baytown for their Annual Deck the Halls Pilot Club Christmas Tour of Homes.”
The Pilot Club invites the public to visit this year’s beautiful homes. A donation of $20/person allows a tour of all four homes on either day. Pilot members volunteer to assist in the homes being visited. Anchor Club students from Impact Early High School sponsored by the Pilot Club of Baytown are volunteering to assist in the homes.
