After a long hiatus, Baytown’s Garth Road Church’s Chicken is back.
A newly remodeled bathroom and a slightly smaller dining area will now greet you (as will the scent of chicken) as you enter the chicken restaurant, located at 1931 Garth Road.
Aside from the renovations, it’s the same ole chicken you’ve had growing up. They have a three-dark meat chicken special, with two sides and a drink, all for $6.99 that gives the chicken lover the satisfaction they desire. It was hot and fresh out of the oven. Since they sell so much chicken it is almost a necessity to keep chicken ready to go otherwise, they would run out.
What the little restaurant has done since it had to close down for a while to renovate its restrooms (where there is now high-quality lavatory equipment) is remove some of its dining space. If you plan to eat at Church’s, you might want to consider getting the food to go. It is rather short on seating, although there is a bar and a table for people with disabilities.
The workers are able to get around despite the small space. Although it took a little longer than usual for my dining buddy to get his fries, they were glad to provide napkins and other utensils as needed.
The first day Church’s opened back up, you couldn’t get your big toe in the door since it was so busy. And good luck with the drive-through lane. This is an indication people missed their Church’s Chicken.
The Church’s on Garth Road is open from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day. Its phone number is 281-422-5030.
