On Saturday, Jack Baskin will continue the biggest fight of his life.
The Baytown born and raised Baskin, a graduate of George Washington Carver Elementary, Horace Mann Junior and Robert E Lee High schools will hope to win the battle against appendix cancer with help from the community at a fundraiser in his honor to be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bicentennial Park.
Entertainment will include H2 The Young Boss, Mike MAZE, Feezarelli, Kdog Kalum Johnson and JC Seals III along with other highlights for the cost of $12 per plate.
The money will go toward helping Baskin, who suffered complications after treatments for the cancer, get a motorized wheelchair and other helpful, daily life necessities while he focuses on his fight with the disease.
Baskin worked for the City of Baytown for 19-plus years before being forced to retire due to his illness, which was diagnosed in March of 2018.
